VERSATILE ATH-LUXURY SPARKS JOY FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 2021/22

FROM AFTER-HOURS ACTIVEWEAR TO SATIN AND VELOUR FINISHES A TOUCH OF OPULENCE INSPIRES NEXT GENERATION ATHLEISURE.

Fashion-savvy all-day actives will invest in hybridised activewear that serves multiple end uses from day-to-night for Autumn/Winter 21/22.

As part of the buy less but better mentality, transition apparel that occupies the sweet spot between performance and fashion will gain momentum. Aim to encapsulate the look of high fashion with the comfort and technicality of sports and outdoor apparel.

Serving to highlight the juxtaposition of trends that will drive new season developments, this luxury take on activewear represents indulgence. Whilst minimalist sentiments will resonate with certain brands, opulence with work for others. As social feeds become more saturated with products, consumers crave choice over the sea-of-sameness seen across visual apps. Limited-edition, cult worthy styles will be treasured. Although contrasting philosophies, both opulent and minimalist concepts are refined and imbued with technical performance.

Alex Ingildsen, CCO at LTP Group and trend forecaster Chantell Fenton discuss what ath-luxury looks like for the sport and outdoor industry for Autumn/Winter 21/22 as outlined in the duos seasonal forecast.

After Hours Activewear

As consumers continue to streamline their wardrobe and seek out products that spark joy, day-to-night ath-luxury collections gain momentum.

Relevant for both mens and womens lines, hybridised styles that form part of a layering story add a sense of opulence. Use zip-in zip-out layers for warmth in winter jackets that work from day-to-night. Aim to add controlled volume to outerwear silhouettes for a touch of glamour. Pleated overskirts and quilted jackets are key for transitional styling.

Recreate Luxury Fabrics with Tech Built-in

Although designed for in-and-out of the gym, don’t compromise on function. Aim to create performance versions of ready-to-wear silhouettes. Whilst elevating core styles in jerseys with a satin sheen or velour finish.

Soft hand-feels, brush surfaces and premium blends enhances the cosy nature of this less overtly sporty look. Use fabrications with a silky or satin shine to create an elegant refined active and outerwear collection with sophistication built in.
